So while browsing through a local second hand directory, I found a vintage MIJ Fender ST72-65 Stratocaster with scalloped neck, serial begins with 85 so I am not sure if its the same age as me.
Most of the parts seems original, bridge pickup is failing due to rust and the pots and selector seems a bit rusty too. So my plan is to have a complete overhaul of this strat, keeping only the main body and neck.
Here is my todo list.
- Stainless Steel Frets
- LSR Nut
- Fender Noiseless (either gen 4 or vintage)
- Redo the wiring, thinking of just installing EMG 3 kit.
- Floyd Rose Rail Tail, or Vega Trim
Vintage purist will probably scream at me, but honestly later this week I will see if I can savage and repair the existing parts. Let’s see how it goes.
While installing the LSR nut I would also see if I could use the dust and wood bits to patch up some cracks on the fretboard.
